The Security Research Dialogue was set up in 2007 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Since 01. August 2016, the Supporting office to the Security Research Dialogue has been located at the Center for Security and Society CSS.

The Office promotes the establishment and continuation of a network of researchers from the humanities, the social sciences and the natural sciences in civil security research and promotes scientific excellence in this research field. This is achieved in particular by the conception and organization of events such as workshops, conferences and other public events as well as by the promotion of young academics. In all of these activities, the Supporting Office is committed to interdisciplinary dialogue and the development and integration of international and, in particular, EU security research.

Through the events and other impulses, the Security Research Dialogue contributes to the dynamic determination of the research needs in this field and also provides scientific debates to the interested public.
